The tour will include the following steps:

1/ Visit to the Museum Room

Here you can learn about the life and work of the Founders of Quinta Vila Rachel, the Sculptors José Joaquim and António Teixeira Lopes. The latter is considered the most recognized and awarded Portuguese sculptor of all time. Their works will be analyzed in detail, some of which are present in the private collection of Quinta Vila Rachel.

You will learn the story of these distinguished artists through Tiago, their direct descendant, who will share his very personal perspective on his family’s history

2/ Visit to the Winery

Our winery is a century-old building where wine has always been produced. Here in this beautiful space, we will explain how we make our wines. These are artisanal processes carried out with the utmost rigor in order to obtain high-quality natural wines. You will also be able to observe our wines aging in clay amphoras, following the ancient tradition that has been used in the region since the time of the Roman Empire.

3/ Visit to the Vineyards

In this step, we will talk about the method of organic production and regenerative agriculture as opposed to massive industrial agriculture. We will talk about the importance of the ecosystem as a whole for the production of wine and olive oil. We will address concepts of polyculture, agroforestry systems, and wild agriculture. We will address the importance and function of the soil microbiome and wild yeasts for wine production. And we will analyze the importance of schist soil for obtaining high-quality grapes.

4/ Visit to Redondo, the private viewpoint of Quinta Vila Rachel

We will visit the Redondo viewpoint where we can contemplate the beautiful Natural Park of the Tua Valley, with the Douro Valley on its horizon.

5/ Wine and Olive Oil Tasting

We will end the visit with a tasting that includes:

 - Five wines ( white / orange, rosé, and red)
 - One extra virgin olive oil
 - Sourdough bread
 - Nuts
 - Chocolate with salt flower

An explanation will be given of how each of the wines was produced, along with their sensory characteristics.
The tasting will be held on one of our viewpoints overlooking the Tua Valley.

Possibility in the end to buy wines and other products in our physical store.

What a wonderful experience we had wine tasting with a tour of the farm. Tiago has so much knowledge and is really trying to embody what a small and sustainable vineyard should be. The wines are exceptional and the grounds are stunning. It is a great place to reconnect with nature and learn about the history of natural wine. I'd recommend going and experience it for yourself. I cannot wait to go back Read review on Google

We booked a tour that included the family home and farm, followed by wine tasting at the end. What a joy it was to visit this place. Tiago is a very impressive person, with huge knowledge and passion for running his farm with compassion for mother nature. Seeing naturally occurring plant life growing happily among the vines and olive trees was just wonderful. If you are in the area, then do yourself a big favour and visit this place, it really is somewhere special. Read review on Google

We went to Quinta Vila Rachel and had the most amazing natural wines. Easy to drink but still complex and beautiful. Tiago gave us a tour of the estate and told us about the history of the farm. Would love to come back and stay in the newly renovated apartments and swim I'm the natural pool amongst the vines! Read review on Google

We stayed in the "Ofelia" house at Quinta Vila Rachel and it is a stunning house in an absolutely beautiful location. I don't use the word "perfect" in many reviews as usually I feel that something could be improved. This is not the case with Quinta Vila Rachel which truly is perfect. The accommodation was clean and comfortable with amazing views across the Tua Valley. The welcome was warm from both housekeeper Filipa, who made us feel at home and provided a lovely breakfast each day, and owner Tiago who is passionate about the organic wines that he creates and the importance of biodiversity in the wine making process. The location is beautiful and peaceful with lovely walks from the doorstep or just sit and enjoy the view and take an occasional dip in the fantastic organic pool. If you do want to sample the "tourist" hustle and bustle of the Douro Valley, then Pinhão is about a 40 minute drive. We also did the tour with Tiago which was very informative and the wines are fantastic. .....as I said.....perfect ! Read review on Google

Absolutely incredible experience to stay here at Quinta Vila Rachel. I will hope to return here every time I visit the Douro Valley. The location is perfect: on a beautiful hillside overlooking a quaint village, many vineyards, and easy access to the nearby town of Alijo. Our rooms were wonderful and having a full kitchen made for a convenient stay. We also loved having an outdoor patio to eat breakfasts and dinners at when the sun was rising and falling. Speaking of, the owner delivered and incredible breakfast basket to us each morning with about everything we could even think to need. We also did a tour of the house and vineyard paired with a tasting, and it was incredible. Just tasting the amazing wines alone would be worth it, and paired with an informative and humbling history the owner shared with us, it was the best thing we did on our visit. I cannot recommend enough and will hope to be a regular here. Read review on Google

My friends and I did a wine tasting at this vineyard - we had an amazing experience! The wines were delicious - if you love natural wine (or just small wine makers who take their craft seriously), then this is defo with a visit. It is also a in a beautiful location and the building too. It was amazing to hear Tiago and his family story, he ensured we had a great experience. We would have loved to stayed the night in one of the apartments he is currently building on the vineyard, but we will have to come back! Read review on Google
